Entrance Schedule
All persons working with rodents must follow the entrance schedule, posted in various locations in the facilities, to prevent spread of pathogens.

Lighting
All animal rooms are on a 12 hour lighting schedule. Most facilities have by-pass switches outside the rooms to allow work in the rooms after the lights are automatically turned off. When working in the animal rooms after hours, please be sure that the lights are returned to the auto setting when you leave.

Euthanasia
The ACU staff willl euthanize your animals for free. The Euthanasia Policy has instructions. No animals will be euthanized without a Euthanasia sticker indicating who requested the action and when. All animals in the cage will be culled. The online form can be used in place of stickers.

Emergency after hours
Emergency after hours contact numbers are posted in various places in the facilities, near telephones and elevators.

Adoptions
Generally, it is not advised to adopt laboratory animals at the termination of the study. However, a mechanism for doing so exists, and those wishing to do so should consult with the Animal Care Unit Director and complete necessary adoption paperwork.
