II. Identification of Processes for Reengineering
The mandate for the Task Force was to identify (not solve) ten to fifteen key KU processes that could be improved by reengineering. The copious suggestions collected from interviews, letters, and focus groups in the fall of 1995 were organized and regrouped by the Task Force into eleven key processes or issues. Members of the Task Force formed into small study groups, one for each process, function, or issue. While the data gathered in the fall were the primary sources of information for this report, in some cases interviews were conducted with those involved with or who directed the process/function being studied. Given available time to accomplish the charge of the Task Force, the input was not comprehensive. In the following reports, the Task Force suggested additional information that might be useful. Each of these processes is addressed in the following pages; the order has not been prioritized.
Furthermore, there are some processes which are currently under review, e.g., Research Foundation Committee, or recently studied, e.g., Report of the Staff Committee on Unclassified Professional Staff Personnel Policy Administration. These issues are not addressed in the report although the Task Force recognizes their importance.
Note: In the following reports, references are made to both the current and the new administrative structure. It is hoped that the intent of the references are clear though the reports vary in their references to the administrative structure.
